Where can I find affordable dresses to buy appropriate for weddings?

I'm having a hard time finding affordable aka not expensive dresses for my friends' weddings. I don't want to go to high-end stores like Macy's and Bloomingdales, etc. to find one. But where can I find one that fits in my budget? I'm 23 years old if that helps any.

  1. It depends on your size sometimes. I'm a woman who wears plus size clothing and cannot find alot of regular department stores that sell dresses in my size. Checkoverstock.com, TJ Maxx, Ross, AJ Wright - stores like that, but make sure that what you purchase is not defective, it's not very often that you'll find defective things there, just things that are moreso last season stuff. Also try your local outlet stores. Good luck!
  2. davids bridal & try marshalls or tjmax....even jc penny
  3. you don't say what region you are in but try Ross http://www.rossstores.com TJ Maxx http://www.tjmaxx.com Goody's http://www.goodysonline.com
  4. Chadwicks. Coldwater Creek. Storybook Heirloom (check out under Mother/Daughter clothing.
  5. I had the same problem when I got married. I found a seamstress who made all my brides maid dresses for 75 dollars each and I had my wedding dress made for 500 dollars (it was priced 2100 in the store). What I did was go to a fabric store and I got referrals. If that is too pricey you may want to try alfred angelo or david's bridal - my mom got her dress there for 59 dollars and it was gorgeous. You might want to try going to a bridal expo too. At bridal expos you can get lists of vendors that sell dresses. Sometimes you can get discounts from the vendors as well especially if you go to their store the same day. If you live near a garment district in a downtown area, visit their wherehouses. I just bought a gown for a broadway play for 69 dollars and the dress was beautiful. If push comes to shove and you cant find a good price, you may want to consider renting your dress. That can be cheap too.
  6. forever21.com, weatseal.com, and rampage.com have nice dresses
  7. I was in your same situation last year. I had four weddings to go to and most of the people were friends of each other so I needed at least two or three dresses I could wear. I had the best luck at Ross's. I don't know if they have that store in your area but I love it. I can find many name brand things there. Also, there's T.J. Maxx and Marshalls that have great deals. I find many name brand things at these stores for affordable prices. I found a name brand formal gown at Ross's that normally would have been around $200, for a mere $7.50. I know what you're thinking that it had to have some kind of problem but I put it on and there are no defects that I can find. It fits great and didn't hurt my wallet one bit. I also find my Nine West sunglasses and Kenneth Cole and Liz Claiborne purses from these stores. They have wonderful bargains!
