Is the brides children alllowed to be in the wedding party?

Do you all find it odd that my children will be in the wedding party. My 17 year old daughter is my matron of honor (yes she is married) and my 14 year old son will be giving me away (my family is in Georgia and my father passed on 22 years ago). We wanted to include them in the wedding and this seems to be the best way. What do you think?

  1. I think it's a beautiful way to celebrate the day. It is really a union of your families. Great idea :)
  2. Of course! It will add immensely to the beauty of the day, and help unite the family. Celebrate the day together... it sounds like a beautiful idea. Also, I do not know of any cultural issues that apply here.
  3. that's awesome! a wedding is a celebration, and having the most important people in your life in the most important roles is perfect. those are pretty unusual roles for kids, and i totally love it!
  4. You can have whomever you like in your wedding party. Congratulations.
  5. i think that lovely, why not have your closest family take part in something that will make you a new family!! your so lucky theyr willing! good luck!
  6. The one thing you have to do is let your photographer know the relationships. As a wedding photographer I see a lot of family in the wedding. If your kids are ok with the roles you have lined up for them, then it is fine.
  7. i think if one has children i thinks its a great idea they are in the wedding. My fiance and i have a 1 1/2 yr old and she will be 2 when we get married and she will be our flower girl.
  8. Sure! You can have any one you want in your wedding party..... after all it is YOUR party!
  9. i think it's great! and if you wanted to include uncle george's pet orangutan that would be fine, too. it's your day, do it your way and have in it anyone you want.
