500 Wedding Ideas

Any brides out here who had their mom walk them down the aisle?

I'm planning on having my mom "give me away", but I have a question. When the moms go up to light the taper candles for the unity candle, should I have my brother (a groomsman) escort my mom "back" down the aisle, or just have mom sneak out through the side to get back to me? Katie: every wedding I've been to has the moms lighting the tapers before the bridesmaids and stuff go down the aisle, but that's a really good idea! I might talk to the pastor performing the ceremony and see if the moms can light the tapers once the ceremony starts!

  1. I thought the unity candle ceremony was done during the actual ceremony...if not, you can have her walk yo down the aisle, have the 2 mothers get up during the beginning of the unity candle ceremony, and then you and your groom do your part. I like seeing moms walk the bride down the aisle!
  2. I had my mom walk me down the aisle many years ago; my dad was gone and she was the most important person at that time. I have never seen the unity candle done at the beginning of the ceremony before the girls enter; it's usually somewhere in the middle, right after the vows. Anything you decide will be beautiful!
