K1 Brides - How long after arriving did it take before you were able to get the work permit to work?
They say it takes 90 days, but the permit is only good for that same 90 days, so sounds like a joke, but has anyone gotten it in 1 month. They know you have to work, so I don't know why they just don't authorize it as soon as you enter, instead of playing games.

- That's why many people apply EAD with AOS after the civil marriage. Once you apply I-765 along with I-485, it takes 90 days to get EAD based on 765 application. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?autocom=custom&page=k1k3aos
- You can apply for AOS as soon as you are married. The EAD application is now part of the package and you should have your EAD card in 3 - 4 months. It can mean a break in employment but that's what the affidavit of support is for, your USC spouse should be able to support you. It's not playing games, the K-1 is only permission to come here and marry within 90 days the apply for AOS. It's not a ticket to live and work here.
- Actually they don't know you have to work... theoratically your sponsor has shown that he/she has enough income to support you both. So you can wait a couple of months before getting a job
- You need to file AOS immediately to get EAD which will last for one year. Your spouse cannot continue working if the 90days permit expires. You may apply for EAD without filing AOS, but again it will be only 90days. In order to get a year long EAD, you must file AOS together. It will be expensive, but that's what you need to do. And, it sometimes takes more than 90days to get EAD. So before your 90days one expires, you should get a new EAD. Otherwise, you cannot work.
