How early before the wedding do most brides have their shower?

How early before the wedding do most brides have their shower? How soon should shower invitations be sent out? And how early before the wedding should you post your engagement picture in the paper? Not wedding invitations, I've got that... bridal shower invitations. How early before the shower are those sent out??
