  1. It's just tradition. Not sure how it came about but whoever catches it is supposed to be the next to get married.
  2. It supposedly means the one who catches it will be the next to marry. Just a little superstition. I didn't do that.
  3. its for the girls that are single or not married. so that they will be the next to get married. superstition reallyfor luck i guess
  4. Tradition
  5. When i get married im not going to throw the bouquet. im going to give it to my best mate.
  6. It's traditional. There should be a similar thing for the groom, you think?
  7. In ye olde times, the wedding dress was considered good luck so, given that the bride was not expected to wear it again, single women at the wedding would tear off their own piece of good relationship fortune. But dresses got expensive (and to allow the dress to be passed down) they started to throw other things to the single women to stop them from destroying the dress... Sometimes they threw the garter as well..
  8. It isn't just to the bridesmaids, it is to every unmarried woman at the reception. It is a fun (and sometimes accurate) way of seeing who will marry next. It is paired with the garter toss for the men, and the guy and girl that catch them are meant to hook up (at least for a dance).
  9. I'm not sure if this is the correct background on the tradition, but I once heard this: Hundreds of years ago, touching the bride or obtaining something she was wearing was considered good luck. Therefore, other single women would want to touch the bride in hopes they were the next to be married. It was like the bride was passing the luck. Eventually, the bride started throwing a bouquet. Who ever caught that was said to be the next to marry. Today, brides throw the bouquet in that tradition. However, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll be the next to marry anymore. Unmarried women who catch the bouquet today consider it good luck in whatever future endeavors come their way. I love the bouquet toss!!!
  10. It is traditions and the person who catches it is supposed to be the next to marry. I didn`t throw mine, I had it preserved instead.
