Does the Episcopalian religion allow outdoor weddings?
Hi, my fiance and I are getting married next April outdoors on the beach. We are in the process of trying to find an officiant. His parents have been members of an Episcopalian church near where we are getting married and have a friendly relationship with one of the priests there. Does anyone know if Episcopalians perform or endorse outdoor weddings? We would like to have this priest perform the ceremony, but don't want to ask something that could be looked down upon by the religion (like Catholics). Thanks!

- There is nothing against outdoor weddings so I am sure you can get something arranged.
- Hell no! If you will get married outside God will come down from heaven and smite you. And it will be really really really embarrassing. Don't do that.
- As a former Episcopalian, there is no "law" that says you can't get married outside. Priests shouldn't care where you get married, and should be happy to do it outside, as long as the weather is suitable. Most love performing the ceremony outside. Don't worry about what a priest thinks, it is God who you are trying to please.
- Most Episcopalian priests would not mind performing the ceremony outside...
