Why are "favors" handed out at weddings/where did that start?
Where exactly did that expectation come from? There must be something behind it. I did it at my wedding, buy my coworker is planning hers. We just got to thinking where did that concept start? And why?

- Wedding favors started as a way for the upper class to provide extravagant gifts to their guests. Through the years, this tradition was adopted by different cultures and different classes, and is generally a way of thanking the guests for witnessing their marriage.
- i had heard that question years ago, and if i remember right (and i dont know if its true) that each culture has different ways of weddings etc. and with a trinket from the wedding you have a remembrance of it and a gift.
