Do the British government recognise weddings taking place in Taiwan?
I plan to marry my Taiwanese fiancee. When we return to the UK, will we be formally recognised by the British government as husband and wife? Or do we have to get married again? My god, a year long process? How can that be?

- Your marriage will be absolutely valid...but don't think for an instant that you'll just be able to bring her back...it's a year-long process.
- Even though you get married, when you return to the UK she will need to get a settlement visa nonetheless. Just because you marry doesn't mean she can come in and be a british citizen. You will need to be married about 2-3yrs before she can even apply for that,
- yes it will be - and it isn't a year long process. after submitting the papers at the embassy it takes between 4 & 12 weeks. just get in touch with the authorities
