Would brides be interested in having a maid for the day?

I am thinking about opening a business that caters to brides on their wedding day. This would go beyond the basic planner. In this role, I would be a bride's maid for the day, right down to a uniform. I would help her dress, do her makeup and nails, and keep pesky relatives away. During the reception, I would fetch drinks and appetizers, help her in the bathroom and rub her feet if they get tired. Does this sound like a service people would be interested in? Are there other things I should include to make this more appealing?

  1. isn't that is what the Maid of Honor is for - try doing some research on the customs of a real Maid of Honor and i think you will find I am right. It is weird a man has to tell you this! ha ha
  2. I do think that it's a good service, though some might consider it the Maid of Honor's job to do most of those things. I think the uniform is a terrible idea though, and makes it sound costumey and almost like a joke. Be a bride's personal servant for the day and wear a sharp pants suit while doing it. or if you are going to be at the reception, be prepared to ask the bride how she would like you to dress--in a suit or in more formal attire. A formal gown would be unweildy for you, but a woman's tuxedo would be perfect as well. I would also make sure to be the woman at the ready with aspirin/tylenol, hair spray for quick fixes, bug spray for outdoor weddings, band aids, extra panty hose, nail polish for runs, extra lipstick for touch ups, etc.
  3. YES!!!!! I would have hired you. Great idea !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. You should rethink your official working title. A caterer does a lot this too. Then there are the salons... If you want to specialize in just doing certain things, do some market research and see about the demand for your services. Good luck.
  5. I wouldn't be interested.... usually the people who do makeup and nails aren't seen as maids..... they must be specialized in these matters so the bride has the confidence and certainty that they'll make a good job. And I wouldn't expect this kind of specialized people to rub my feet at the reception.... I think that helping the bride to get dressed, and helping her with whatever she may need during the reception can be made by close relatives or even the bridesmaids and it wouldn't cost her a dime..... so why would she want to hire someone else? Just my opinion, tho..... some ppl might find it interesting and unusual.
  6. I would also think that those are jobs for the bride's maids... also, no offense, but I wouldn't want a total stranger rubbing my feet, helping me in the bathroom and showing up in the photos.
  7. I think that is just about one of the best idea's I've ever heard of. Yes you should go for it. I love being taken cared of. I have a housekeeper and she sure makes my life much better. My cousin sure could have used this service and so many other people that I know. Also what about a Maid for the day service for the women who just want to be pampered.
  8. Someone outside the wedding to run all kinds of errands sounds like a good idea.
