What do the brides father and grooms father wear to the wedding?

Do they wear a suit, a tuxedo, or what? If they do wear a tuxedo are they different from the groomsmen? Also, is the grooms tuxedo usually a little different from the groomsmen or all the same? Thank you so much!

  1. usually the same tux
  2. They can wear tuxedo or a nice suit.
  3. we rented the same tuxes for them, but they had different colored ties.
  4. The groom's is ususlly a little different, the Fathers wear a tux. They can be the same as the grooms men or a little different! Congrats!
  5. the groom is the most formal, then the groomsmen and fathers. if your grrom is in a tuxedo, the groomsmen can be in tuxedo or suit. if your grromsmen are in suits, the father's should not wear tuxedos, they should wear suits. the groom's tux is usually a little different - he may have a black or white vest instead of a colored one, and perhaps a bigger boutineer.
  6. if dad escorts her down the aisle Tux if he doesnt nice Suit grooms dad wears tux if he is Best man otherwise nice Suit Groom is usually really decked out while the others wear less decked out tuxes
  7. They typically wear a tux. It can be different from the groomsmen. Usually the fathers wear a black vest and not the blue/silver/red that a groomsmen might wear. The groom usually wears a white tie or vest, not black or a color like the groomsmen. This is how he stands out.
  8. Well, generally the groom's tux is just a little different from the groomsmen's. Just a different color vest or something like that so that guests can tell who is the groom and who are groomsmen. Most of the time the father of the bride wears a tux like the groomsmen since he has a part in the wedding. The father of the groom may wear just a suit or a tux along the same lines. If you wanted, the fathers' tuxes could also be slightly different from the groomsmen's. Good luck!
  9. Depends on the rest of the wedding party! If everyone else is in a tux, the fathers should be in a tux as well. Same tux or different tux doesn't matter and is up to you. Frequently they all wear the same tux. However the bride's father--if walking her down the aisle--is a member of the wedding party and should be dressed accordingly. I have been to afternoon weddings when the groom did not wear the same tux as the groomsmen and in which case, the fathers can wear either tux--but often wears the same as the groom since its dressier. I had my father's in the same vest as the groomsmen but b/c they were in silver vests. Had they had blue or green vests, I probably still would have used silver for the fathers.
  10. My groom wore a black tux with champagne tie and vest to match my gown. The Best Man and G-men wore black tux with sage tie and vest to match the girls. Our fathers wore a black tux with black tie and vest. I think they should wear a tux just because they're the fathers of the bride and groom but if they don't want to, a nice suit would suffice.
  11. Our father's both wore a tuxedo. Now all my groomsmen wore brown vests to match the bridesmaids dresses. I had both our father's wear the same tuxedo but I had them wear silver vests so they would match whatever colors our mothers decided to wear.
  12. Depends on the formality of the event, most wear tuxes though
  13. I used to work in a tux shop, and here is what we would always tell the wedding folks. They should all have the same tux, as in same coat and pants and vest, ect. The groom should match the bride, so if she is wearing white, his vest/tie would be white. The groomsmen's vest and ties should be the wedding color. The father's should wear the tux with black vests/ties. This is just a very traditional thing. If the fathers are not involved (bride's father in escorting her and groom's father in escorting mother or grandmother) than nice suits are appropriate instead of tuxes. Remember that this is just the traditional way to do it, so you can venture out a little if you wish. COngratulations and hope this helped!
  14. They usually wear the same tuxedo,or a very formal dress suit. The rest varies according to their own style usually, unless the bride and groom decide differently such as the color of their tie or bow tie,or if they want to wear a tie clip or not.
  15. Their choice. A tux or a suit. The tux can be the same or different from the groomsmen.
  16. Occasionally, the Groom will wear a different style or color of tie but other than that ALL OF THE MEN should wear the same style of tuxedo or suit as the Groom, and that includes the Bride's father and the Groom's father. The style is determined by the level of formality . . the season . . the setting or location . . and the time of day. Any experienced employee of a men's formal wear store should be able to give you information, advice and recommendations. They are there to help you! Need to order "formal wear" at least 6 - 8 weeks in advance of the wedding. Do NOT buy or rent a "cheap suit." Cheap suits and cheap tuxedos look CHEAP. Go up to the next price level, it will look so much better! Ultraformal . . gentlemen wear a tailcoat Formal . . gentlemen wear a tuxedo Semiformal . . gentlemen wear a dark suit, lighter colored suit if you are getting married in the summer or in a warm climate Casual or informal . . jeans . . shorts . . linen slacks . . leather pants . . bathing suit . . chinos . . cargo pants . . hawaiian shirt and white slacks Answered by: A Certified wedding specialist / A Professional bridal consultant / A Wedding ceremony officiant
  17. a basic tuxedo different from the groomsman - brides father should have a black tie! not the b/m color or white.. the GROOM should have a white tie *(or whatever color your dress is) you can get different styles for the fathers/groomsman/groom. the groom should be different but my FIL liked the groomsman tux so he got it..
  18. I would have them wear a tux also. But, if you have two colors for your wedding, I would have them wear the opposite color of the groomsmen. For example, the groomsmen are wearing a blue vest and tie, I would have the father wear a silver vest and tie. It just sets them off a little bit from the groomsmen but also recognizes that they are a big part of the wedding. I would also do the same for the groom. Have him wear the silver instead of the blue so he is recognized differently also. You could just change the color of the flower they wear. All of the actual tuxes should be the same.
  19. Traditionally the fathers wear something similar to the groomsman. But now days it's a bit more flexible and you can mix it up. I think it's nice to see the fathers match their wives in some way. For example if your color scheme is red and your groomsman are wearing black tux with red ties, but mom is wearing pink dad could wear a pink tie or maybe a Grey tux to soften the black to match mom. I think the level of formality show remain the same but you can play with styles and colors.
  20. Tuxedo. It can be the same as the groomsmen or different. My dad wanted a vest to match my mom's dress. (navy blue) My father in law wore a black vest. The groomsmen wore silver. I have seen the dads match the bridal party and I have seen them just wear black. The groom can match the bridal party or be different.
  21. The fathers can wear a nice suit and tie. If it is very formal, then they can wear a tuxedo, just slighty different. Also a different coloured buttonhole would be good. The groom often does have a different tux to the groomsmen, but I have also seen them the same.
  22. The fathers can wear a tuxedo if the groomsmen are too. The fathers don't have to wear the same tuxedo. The groom can wear the same or a different tux from the groomsmen and the fathers.
  23. They just wear a distinguished suit, not tuxes. Most often, the groom's tux is different in some way from the groomsman - if not in colour or cut, then in what colour his vest, tie or cummerbund are - whichever are being used.
