Public Comments
- It is not legal. EARLY Mormons did once accept polygamy, but it was both made illegal years ago, and the MAIN (official) branch of the church, also no longer accepts it. Other "renegade" branches claim it is ok, but the fact is that they are still against the law. edit- the comment about welfare is not based in any facts, but hysteria. Being approved for welfare benefits REQUIRES documentation such as birth certificates, etc. Trust me.. these people were not on welfare. That would have been the FASTEST way to have gotten to them, and they were smart enough to avoid that.
- It is against the law. All those polygamists out there have the ceremonies but never get a license. Then their 15 wives can go get on welfare and food stamps, since they are technically single mothers.
- No one wife only With the trouble I have with one wife, I cannot image why anyone would want more than one.
- Nope. Not legal. And unlike popular belief, Utahns aren't polygamists. Well, I'm sure you'll find a few, but you'll find a few in every state.
- No - this anti-Mormon stereotype continues to be played over and over and over. One wife.
