Are weddings evidence that materialism does not work?

By now it should be obvious, weddings are the brides ultimatum which can never be satisfied. The truth is you can never by your childhood imaginings back, but still the bridezilla is an all too common occurrence. Now something even worse; imagine a world full of bridezilla's and groomzilla's due to materialism. Your thoughts please.

  1. Weddings are indicative of what the marriage is going to be like and the character of the two people getting married. I watched a TV show with two couples whose outdoor weddings had been ruined by a freak snowstorm in California. The one couple showed videos of the bride and groom sliding down hills and having snowball fights with each other and the guests. They couldn't change the weather so they had fun with it. That's how they'll deal with life and they were funny and happy on the show. The other bride was crying like a baby and acting like it was the end of the world. She was crying on the show and it had been 2 years since the wedding. Her husband looked like he wanted to shoot her.
