  1. We really need more Information. Is it large? on a label? stitched into the dress? What color is it and can you tell on the back if it was stitched on? On the whole, you might come out better to take it to a seamstress and let her see it in person.
  2. If the label is sewn onto the dress then you will need some skill on how to use a seam ripper because one slip and you could slit the dress. So, perhaps this is a job for a qualified seamstress. Sometimes the word "Sample" is stamped onto the dress with who knows what sort of ink. Perhaps it is water soluble but maybe the dress is dry clean only. If it is stamped onto the hemline. Please call the store where you bought it and ask them their advise on how to remove the ink. Or, check the manufacturers label and call them directly. Most customer service numbers can be found on the web. If the dress will be hemmed, perhaps the label can be cut off with the excess fabric when the dress is shortened? But, your best bet is to contact a seamstress if it is sewn on or the dress shop if it is stamped on.
