How many of you brides are having your wedding video taped?

Im just curious. Are you having just pictures done, video or both? Why or why not. Im sure its pricey.

  1. I'm having it video taped as well but both the pictures and the video taping are being doing by family friends who work at the local newspaper and news station. They do their stuff freelance and since they're friends I'm getting it all done for a ridiculously sweet price.
  2. I had it all done by family...I did both and Im now very happy I did the video...it was a new digital camera and I didnt know that reformatting would delete all the wedding pics...I have 2 wedding pics that were taken with a cell phone! grr!
  3. I am having both, its friends and family recording it so its FREE lol
  4. We had our video taped as well as photographed and I would highly recommend the video to everyone. We bought a package that included both and it was not too pricey which was great. We got to see so many things on the video that the pictures just didn't capture and it was wonderful. Pictures are great, be we got so much more out of the video it was like reliving the day all over again, and the videographers caught things (like me yelling I love you to my husband as the groomsmen lifter him up) that we had forgotten about and some great things like when we were taking pictures along the river a boat went by and honked it's horn and the name of the boat was destiny (which I took as a great sign) the photographer wasn't quick enough to catch a picture of it, but the videographer got it! Also at the reception they set it up so guests could go and leave us a video message and those were some of the greatest things to watch later on, just precious memories that we'll have forever espically my grandmothers message to us! I say if you have the little extra to have it done it's well worth it, plus it's something your children will love to see in the future! Good Luck!!!
  5. we're buying a video camera (cheaper than paying someone to do it) and my fiance's father is going to film most of it (i'm sure the camera will get passed around) this way we'll still have the camera for the honeymoon & whn we have a family we're also having a professional photographer for digital photos and having my dad use a real 35mm camera
  6. I am video taping. The chapel we are using offers the service for $75. Since it is just going to be our parents and siblings there we definitely want the video to show the family that missed it. But normal video services (which we were looking into when planning a big wedding) were $1200 (for basic packages) ridiculous. Have a friend/family member use their own camcorder to record it (my aunt had me do it for my cousin). Put it on the tripod and hit record. We are doing pictures too. But nothing pricey or fancy.
  7. both. We do need a camcorder and a new digital cam. so we'll buy but have friends do the work free. Most invited people are family and closest friends and all are willing to help out. Some relatives are willing to use their cameras too as long as our notebooks are there to download immediately.
  8. It was too expensive so we decided not to have a professional videographer, just the photographer taking stills. Instead we asked a couple of our friends to bring their video cameras and film the ceremony. That was quite enough for us.
  9. I will never sit around and watch it and I doubt that anyone else would watch it more than once, so we are not spending the money on it. The pictures I think are so much better. You can display them, have coffee table albums and send them o people and they would actually put them in a frame or in an album. People are not gonna be watching your wedding videos for years to come. That is more of a for you thing. If you want to spend the extra money, then go for it. We are not gonna spend the extra cash on it though. Good luck.
  10. we are hiring a professional photographer for our wedding, but then we are asking friends who have video camera's to film to wedding. i figured that it would be cheaper to buy a video camera that i can have for the rest of my life and edit my own video alot cheaper then i could ever find a professional videographer
  11. With today's technology, there are now low end camcorders with 60GB hard disks. They can record at high resolution for 7 hours! The entire length of your wedding and reception can virtually be covered. With the higher end camcorders, you can record your wedding and reception in High Definition! We had our wedding video recorded. A friend of ours did this as a gift to us. What a blessing. At first we would watch our first dance. Then later, we would watch our friends watching our first dance. Then we started looking for our friends and relatives just to see where they were. The video is so clear. This made the whole process fun! We watched our ceremony. Our wedding went by so quickly. We're glad that we have it on video. We could see the reaction of friends and relatives as well as the wedding party while the pastor gave his message. Some of the scenes were so precious and unique that we used a video software program to convert those to photos! It's worth it! If you can't hire a professional, see if any of your friends or relatives have the hard disk based camcorders and go for it! You won't regret it. We also had 6 friends of ours take photos of our wedding. They all had high end equipment. It was obvious they took their photography hobby seriously. I recommend that you have photos taken too. With photos and a videos, you will complete more of the puzzle. Believe me when I tell you, your wedding will go by so fast. It will be a blur. If you have photos and videos you will be able to capture those moments of this very special time in your life. * * *
  12. I am getting a two church photographers, along with family members to photograph my wedding, but I will not have it taped. I am not having it taped because I want to remember my day as wonderful and a lot of brides on here say they had it taped only to see people yawning, looking at their watches, etc.
  13. We had it taped - but it's not worth getting a professional for. A friend and a cousin each did it, then we combined them; didn't do any fancy editing - it's just nice to have it. We had a BIL do photos at the church and reception, but went to a studio for formal photographs after the ceremony.
  14. I am just having pictures. Why? I am on a budget and had to cut things so videotaping was one of the first things to go (along with limos).
  15. I agree with Miss V. You will watch it once, my husband never watched it at all, and then it will go in a box. Not worth paying for a professional when a friend or someones teenager could do it for you and get the important things on tape for you. Ours is in a box and I assume our kids will watch it someday.
  16. Only if we can afford it. I have a list of things I would like to do, if we can afford it after paying for the essentials. It would be nice(!) but it's not at the top, you know. Pictures however- IMPORTANT. We are hiring a highly recommended pro, because I'm not taking any chances. Best Wishes
